When
I was about three years old, maybe younger, my father would scribble
lines on a blank sheet of paper so I could color in the shapes which
resulted from the overlapping of the lines. Memories of seeing him
make these drawings and anxiously waiting for him to finish so I
could color them in is I think my earliest creative memory.
Recently
I have moved away from works on paper and moved to using stretched
canvas or panes of glass as the surface for my work. Moving to this
new material sparked my creative memories of those earliest times,
and awakened new creative desires to branch out. These works are
the first fruits of that labor.
These
works suggest to me the connectedness of all things, as I recognize
in them the earliest common threads of my diverse artistic styles
which have sprung from a child's fascination with squiggles, shapes
and colors.
